Submit an event
Adding your event to a community calendar takes a few minutes. Here's what to expect.
Before you start
You'll need a free CivicLift account. You can create one when you start your submission.
Not every calendar accepts public submissions — it's up to whoever runs it. If you don't see a Submit an Event button on the calendar, contact whoever runs it to find out how to submit.
Filling in the form
The form is called Add Event and is grouped into five sections.
Event Info
| Field | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Community | Yes | Which community your event belongs to |
| Event Title | Yes | Up to 120 characters |
| Description | Yes | Up to 10,000 characters |
| Add Image | No | A photo or flyer |
You can also set a Cost (free, one price, or several pricing tiers) and how people attend — walk-in, buy tickets online, or register in advance. The last two need a link.
When
The date and time are filled in for you — tomorrow, at the next round hour, running three hours. Change them to suit your event.
Two things worth knowing:
- A single event starts and ends on the same day. There's no separate end date. For an event that repeats on several days, choose Event Series instead.
- Ticking This is an all-day event hides the time pickers entirely.
To repeat an event, choose Event Series instead of Single Event. You'll be asked for a Last Date, which can be at most one year after your start date. Once you've entered a start date, you can pick how it repeats — daily, weekly, monthly, or a custom schedule.
Enter times in the event location’s time zone. If your computer is in a different time zone, you’ll be asked to confirm the event’s time zone before saving.
Categories
Pick one Category (required). A Subcategory is optional.
Age Range is required — choose who your event suits. If it suits everyone, there's an All Ages option that selects them all at once.
Dress Code and Tags are optional.
Venue / Place
Search for your venue in the CivicLift places directory. If it isn't listed, tick My event's venue is not available in the CivicLift Places directory and type the name yourself — the address is optional.
If you tick This is an Online Event, you won't need a venue, but a link to the event becomes required.
Organizer Info
Choose whether you're organizing this personally, on behalf of an organization, or for someone else. Picking Myself fills in your name and email from your account.
After you submit
You'll see "Thank you! Your event has been submitted." and land on your Your Events page, where your submissions live.
From there, each calendar decides for itself. A single event can appear on more than one community calendar, and each one reviews it separately — so your event may go live on one calendar while another is still reviewing it. That's normal.
How quickly it appears depends on how each calendar is set up. Some publish submissions straight away; others review everything first. If you submit regularly to the same calendar, its organizer can mark you as trusted, and your events publish automatically from then on.
Changing an event after submitting
Your submissions stay available on the Your Events page, where you can edit them.
If you need something corrected urgently or taken down, contact the person who runs that calendar.
